I can’t even believe I am getting the chance to share this moment with you. YA’LL my former roommate of 16+ years, my only sibling, my heart, my little brother just got ENGAGED! When my brother Matt told me that he was going to propose I think my heart stopped.
To me he will always be the little kid in power ranger pajamas with trading cards in his pockets.
The kid who’s homework I did, the kid I protected at all costs, & the kid that has always had my back just like I have his. Only he’s not a kid anymore, he’s a grown man and he has met the sweetest girl to be his wife. I couldn’t be happier for Matt and his new bride Ashley. I was so honored to capture their big day.
Matt knew he wanted to propose at Upper Shirley, let’s just say this blog post sold him on it :) The plan was to tell Ashley that we thought it would be a great place to spend Mother’s day and we could get her family and our family together. Everyone was in on the surprise, & the team at Upper Shirley could not have been more accommodating. My husband Robby and I went early to put together the picnic basket that the ring would secretly be in. When Matt and Ashley arrived we were at the edge of the water with a blanket and picnic basket that we told Ashley was for all of us to enjoy for Mother’s day. I told her that we forgot to get the wine so we had to go back to the tasting room to grab it. As we were walking away I nervously kept looking back, thankfully I still had my camera in my hands and grabbed a quick shot of Matt on one knee, look closely I swear they are there ;) After the actual proposal they enjoyed some incredible Upper Shirley Blanc de Blanc & a cheese platter that was put together just for them. Our families joined in the celebration and it was such a wonderful day.
